NEW ROLE: Uganda’s Usher Owere Elected Horn Of Africa Confederation Of Free Trade Unions Vice President

ENTEBBE, UGANDA-SHIFTEMDIA- A Ugandan has been elected to head the Horn of Africa Confederation of Trade Unions (HACTU)
Usher Wilson Owere the Chairman General National Organisation of Trade Unions (NOTU) was confirmed as 2nd Vice President of HACTU during the 2nd Ordinary Congress that was held at the Lake Victoria Granada Hotel in Entebbe.

The two day conference held under strict Covid 19 SOPs attracted delegates fro, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, South Sudan, Sudan, Somalia and Uganda.
The Board of HACTU begun the congress on July 8 2021 at the Lake Victoria based hotel.
Usher Wilson Owere who has been so instrumental in championing workers issues in Uganda was first elected for the post in 2019 during the meeting that was held in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.

He will handle the officer over a 4 year period. The elections that were due to be held on 2020 was postponed due to the ravaging Covid 19 pandemic.
Addressing the media after the congress. Owere expressed gratitude for being confirmed promising not to disappoint the workers Union.
“I am very happy and thank the Congress for the endorsement,” he said with a beaming smile.
