Workers MP, Dr, Sam Lyomoki

Kampala, Uganda:

Not all is fine for Workers MP, Dr. Sam Lyomoki. Apparently, news reaching us is that he has been dragged to court for failing to pay a loan to the tune of shs70 million.

Herbert Lule, a businessman filed that suit at the High Court Civil Division.

Through his lawyers of Kiwanuka, Kanyago & Co. Advocates, Lule is seeking a court order directing Dr Lyomoki to pay him the Shs70m with interest plus costs of the suit.

In the suit, that we have had a glance at, Lule alleges that Lyomoki was advanced shs 70 million in August 2018, with a promise of paying by September 2018.

According to the terms and conditions set, Dr Lyomoki handed over a PDC- Post Dated Cheque from DFCU Bank.

However, Lule smelt a “rat” when he presented the said cheque and it was dishonored with remarks: ‘Refer to the drawer-account dormant.”

“The plaintiff immediately informed the defendant (Dr. Lyomoki) about the bounced cheque whereupon he undertook to pay the same within one week.”
but despite his (Lyomoki’s) promise to pay within a week, the week has turned into several months now.

Lule notes in his suit that failure for Lyomoki to pay up has caused him financial distress for which the legislator is liable to pay damages.
When contacted, Lyomoki declined to comment, saying, he will sort out the issue soon.
