KAMPALA — |SHIFTMEDIA|The number of CORONA cases in Uganda has shot up to 100 as per the latest results released by Health Ministre Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng on Wednesday.

Ministry of Health said that the two cases, which are part of 3,509 tested on Wednesday arrived from Kenya via Malaba are Eritrean and Kenyan nationals.

“Today, 6 May 2020, 2 new COVID-19 cases confirmed from 3,071 samples of truck drivers,” the ministry said.

All 438 community samples have tested negative for the disease.

Despite not registering any deaths so far from the virus compared to our neighbors, Kenya and Tanzania, the increasing rise of cases is threatening the complete lifting of the lockdown that was further extended by President Museveni until May 19 2020. Uganda has so far registered 55 recoveries from COVID-19. Kenya has a total of registered 582 confirmed cases, with 26 deaths and 190 recoveries. While Tanzania has 480 cases, 16 deaths, and 167 recoveries, while Rwanda has 268 confirmed cases, zero deaths, and 130 recoveries.
