Mwesigwa Rukutana Secures Bail After Paying Ugx4 Million

NTUNGAMO, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| –Just like it was presumed, the State Minister for Labor, who was jailed for scores of crimes including attempted murder during the NRM party primaries, has been granted bail.

Mwesigwa Rukutana, the former Attorney General was granted bail by the Ntungamo Chief Magistrates Court on Tuesday, September 16, 2020.

Rukutana who was vying for the NRM Party parliamentary flag bearer for Rushenyi in Ntungamo has been in jail in Kitalya prison since September 8. He was arrested after a reportedly shot an ardent Forum for Democracy (FDC) supporter, Dan Rwiburingi leaving him with serious head injuries.

The seat was won by the former Ntungamo Woman MP, Naome Kabasharira in one of the hotly contested NRM primaries in history. The 60-year-old was granted a cash bail of Ugx 4 million shillings.
