How IGP Okoth Ochola Saved Ofwono Opondo From Death

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| As we publish this post, Uganda Media Center Executive Director and Government Spokesman Ofwono Opondo aka OO is out of danger and steadily recovering where he is admitted at Nakasero Hospital in Kampala.

The news of OOs admission was first broken by Next Media Chief Executive Kin Karisa who visited Opondo at Nakasero and posted his photos as he sat looking so frail in the hospital bed.

What happened?

According to close family sources who spoke to our team of investigators, Ofwono Opondo has for long been battling a chronic disease. The family source revealed how of late Ofwono who has been deep in his ancestral home in Mulanda, West Budama South (Now Mulanda Central) in Tororo district somehow felt betrayed.

“He had of late been drinking rather heavily something that worried many of us. We also realised he had apparently stopped taking his drugs,” said the family source. They said that over the weekend, they noticed Ofwono Opondo was scarce and not present. “We checked in the house and realised he was locked inside and wasn’t feeling well. He was in a very life-threatening state.”

The source said as a family they mobilised other family members and neighbors and forced the locked door opened. Immediately efforts to save his life was embarked upon with scores of calls made.

We were told that among those called was the Inspector General of Police John Martins Okoth Ochola (below) who apparently has a home a few meters from Ofwono Opondo’s ancestral residence in Mulanda.

Okoth Ochol immediately ordered that the Police chopper flies to Mulanda to airlift Ofwono Opondo to Kampala.

He was rushed to Nakasero Hospital where scores of doctors attended to him. Many leading politicians and government officials including Senior Presidential Advisor on Political Affairs Moses Byaruhanga have visited him at Nakasero.
