KAMPALA- SHIFTMEDIA- After they heard of their pending arrests on orders of President Museveni, the two Rural Electrification Agency (REA) Officials switched off their phones.

But Lt. Col Edith Nakalema who heads the dreaded State House Anti Corruption Unit said “They can run, but they cannot hide”.

Nakalema has strict instructions from the Commander in Chief Gen. Yoweri Museveni to apprehend John Turyagyenda and Godfrey Werikhe.

Werikhe is REA’s Deputy Executive Director while Turyagenda is the Manager Project Management.

According to Museveni, in a missive to Energy Minister Grace Kitutu, the two officials have been accused of soliciting bribes from investors to access power.

In a strongly worded letter dated April 2021, that we obtained, Museveni described it as regrettable that the two corrupt officials had their contract renewed.

Inside sources said Museveni also tasked Prime Minister Rt. Hon Ruhakana Rugunda to put Energy Minister Goretti Kitutu to “order”.

The Director CID Grace Akulu said they are going to act as instructed by the fountain of Honor.

President Museveni noted that reports from the Inspector General of Government, Police Criminal Investigations and Internal Security Organisation had made it clear that contracts of the duo shouldn’t be renewed.

Though Kitutu says she didn’t suspect any wrong dealing from the two, whatever “putting to order” means, maybe a story for another day. The IGG in its latest investigations pitted Werikhe and Turyagenda for insubordination. negligence and abuse of office among others.

Werikhe was particularly accused of changing the supplier of the transformers meant for the Masindi- Waki power lines under unclear circumstances.

After facing arrest the two will appear before the Anti-Corruption court.
