THRASHED: Egypt’s Al Ahly Thumps Sudan’s Hilal 3-0 In CAF Quarters

Dubai, UAE [SHIFTMEDIA] Al-Ahly will resume its campaign in the Egyptian Premier League championship, with a difficult confrontation against Ghazl al-Mahalla, on Wednesday, April 5 at 9:15 pm in the Cairo international Stadium for the 23rd round of the Egyptian Premier League.

The  Egypt independent reported that Al-Ahly Sporting Club made a big victory over Al-Hilal from Sudan with three clean goals on Saturday evening at Cairo Stadium, in the final and sixth round of the group stage of CAF Champions League.

Mahmoud Abdel-Moneim Kahraba scored for Ahly in the 25th minute, and Hussein al-Shahat scored twice in the 64th and 81st minutes.

With this win, Ahly raised its tally to point 10, in second place in group B standings, with a goals difference ahead of Hilal who ranked third with the same number of points.

The South African club Mamelodi Sundowns F.C. maintained the top position in the group, with 14 points, after defeating Cameroonian Coton Sport in the last round.

Sundowns, leading the group, and Ahly in second place, therefore now qualify for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League.

that security authorities agreed on allowing 50,000 fans to attend the match of Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League group stage against Sudan’s Al-Hilal, the Egyptian club announced on March 21.

Al Ahly’s board, under Mahmoud al-Khateeb, extended thanks to Interior Minister Mahmoud Tawfeeq and security bodies on supporting Al Ahly in the decisive match, held April 1 at Cairo International Stadium.

Abdel-Moneim to join 2016 winners Mamelodi Sundowns as runners up from Group B.

Ahly finish second in Group B, behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, who collected 14 points from their six games.

Kahraba put the hosts in the lead after twenty four minutes when he controlled beautifully before slotting home.

El-Shahat extended the lead two minutes after coming on in the 63rd minute and sealed victory with another brilliant finish in the 83rd minute.
