SAD END: Body Of Ugandan Lady Who Fell Off A Dubai Hotel Set For Repatriation

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA NEWS| The body of the Uganda lady who fell of a Dubai building at the weekend is set for repatriation.

Monica Karungi, aka Monna Kiz, 24 jumped of the ninth floor of the Al Fahad hotel in Dubai. The video of Karungi jumping off the apartment has since gone viral on social media.

 

Karungi Monica who hails from Isingiro in western Uganda was a notable personality on Instagram where she posted her nudes days before her demise.

Ministry of Internal Affairs speaks out

The Ministry of Internal Affairs Uganda on Tuesday identified the deceased as Monica Karungi.

Agnes Igoye, the deputy National Coordinator, Trafficking in Persons Department, confirmed that the person in the video as Monica Karungi aka Monna Kiz, 24, who hails from Isingiro district.

Karungi, according to a video that was seemingly recorded by her colleagues on the apartment she was living in, jumped from the ninth floor of a 12-storied building and landed on a concrete courtyard near a black parked vehicle.

Igoye, has since explained that they are in touch with the ministry of Foreign Affairs to establish circumstances that could have forced Karungi to terminate her life. The repatriation of her body, will depend on how fast the investigations are conducted.

“You all saw that graphic image where she was falling off from the building in Dubai and she died on spot but it is Foreign Affairs which will give details, we are yet to know the reason for her suicide,” Igoye said.

The Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agencies (UAERA) through their spokesperson, Ronnie Mukundane, said Karungi was not taken by any of their member organisations.

Suspected cause of suicide

Meanwhile detectives from the Homicide Department are investigating allegations that Karungi might have died after learning that her boyfriend “ate” all the money she has been sending for construction of a house.

The boyfriend, yet to be identified will have to answer if the allegations are true.

“We only hear speculations that her boyfriend in Uganda ‘ate’ her money she’s been sending him and he even married another woman,” a source at one of the labour companies that export people to Dubai said.

Before her death, Karungi was posting semi-nude pictures of herself on social media.
