Kampala, UGANDA [ShiftMedia] It didn’t come as a surprise to many soccer lovers, it was just a matter of when, and not if after the humiliating 5-1 defeat that Simba suffered under the hands of Young Africans in the Kariakoo derby.
The management of Simba decided to show Roberto Goncalves Do Carmo Oliviera alias Robertinho an immediate exit.
The Tanzanian club confirmed this on Tuesday November 7 in a statement released on the club’s communication channels.
Robertinho joined the Msimbazi in January this year after leaving Ugandan champions Vipers and guided the club to the quarter finals of the Caf Champions League.
He leaves Simba third on the Tanzania Premier League table with 18 points, three behind leaders Young Africans who have played one more game.
The defeat to Young Africans was the first the club has suffered in the competition and won six of the seven encounters so far.
Coach of the Month
The former Vipers SC head coach Roberto Oliviera alias Robertinho had just scooped the Tanzania Premier League Coach of the Month for October.
Now with giants Simba SC, the Brazilian deservedly won the award after three victories in as many games in the league.
The Wakundu wa Msimbazi got off the month with a comfortable 3-1 away win over Tanzania Prisons. They then narrowly beat Singida Fountain Gate 2-1 and Ihefu by the same scoreline in the final match of the month.
Robertinho and his charges have won all their six league matches this season.
They currently sit second on the Tanzania Premier League table with 18 points, having played a game fewer than leaders and nemesis, Young Africans SC.
