Uganda’s Cancer Crisis: Activists Call for Prevention Over Costly Treatment

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| Burial arrangements for fallen Uganda Media Center Deputy Executive Director, Col. Shaban Bantariza have been released. According to UPDF Spokesperson, Brig. Gen Flavia Byekwaso, Bantariza will be laid to rest at his ancestral home in Mitooma district.
President Yoweri Museveni has in a condolence message described the late Col Shaban Bantariza as a real cadre.
Bantariza succumbed to the deadly COVID 19 pandemic at Mulago Hospital on Tuesday morning. Shaban served as army spokesperson as well as commandant National Leadership Institute Kyankwazi.
Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso in a statement said Bantariza (RO/06361) will be buried on Thursday in Kagorogoro village, Ruhinda County, Mitooma district, but with restricted number of mourners due to the Covid19.
Shaban Bantariza was born on 17 December 1955 to Mr and Mrs Atanazio Rwebakura of Kagorogoro village, Nyakasiru parish, Bitereko sub-county, Ruhinda county, Mitooma district.
He went to Muhangye Primary School, St Leo’s College Kyegobe (UCE), Caltec Academy Makerere – Uganda (UACE), National Teachers College – Kyambogo (1978 – 1980), Makerere University – Bachelor of Arts in Arts
Uganda Management Institute – Post-Graduate Diploma in Management.
