RENEWED: Museveni Extends Governor Tumusime Mutebeli’s Contract

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| The year has started on a good note for 71-year-old Prof. Emmanuel Tumusime Mutebile, the Governor Bank of Uganda.

President Yoweri Museveni has renewed and extended his contract for another five years (2026).

The renewal of the contract makes Mutebile the longest-serving Governor of Bank of Uganda ever since President Museveni captured power in 1986. Mutebile has been Governor Bank of Uganda since 2001.

He was first appointed to that position on  January 1,2001 and was re-appointed for a second five-year term on  January 1, 2006. In December 2015, he was re-appointed for a fourth five-year term, effective 12 January 12, 2016.
