REMEDY: Kween District Officials Meet To Address Insecurity, Shoddy Works

KWEEN, Uganda [SHIFTMEDIA] Kween district leaders have agreed on how to ensure peace and stability in the district following a wave of thefts, that rocked the border district of recent.
The district security Chairperson who doubles as the Resident District Commissioner Rtd ASP Hope Atuhaire said foot and motorized patrols will be beefed up across the mountainous district.
She was chairing a security meeting attended by the, Kween District Local Government Chairperson, the Deputy RDC, DISO,  Speaker District Local Government, and the Commander 501 Battalion.
Also in attendance were all the LC111 Chairpersons, as well as GISOs  of the Lower Belt. “I am optimistic that we shall ably handle the issue of insecurity in Kween,” said the RDC at the security meeting held at the 501 Battalion Headquarters on Monday.

On Spot Construction Checks

Similarly, the RDC has also conducted construction works at the Atar Health Center III . A construction of twin staff houses was reported to be shoddy after residents noticed the slab was weak.
The RDC together with District Local Government Team that included the CAO,  Procurement, district Engineer,  DISO, the Deputy Speaker who doubles as woman Councilor, Male councilor In Charge Atar  HC111 among others  inspected the site.

”Amazingly  what was on site was a slab  which is  shoddy, secondly,  we found out the workers were miserable due to lack of payment for work done. There were no building  materials on site. The engineer on site also looked idle and unware of what was going on,” said Atuhaire. The RDC said that contractor identified as a one Ambrose was missing, and reportedly in Kampala.
“It was agreed that the Site meeting takes place next week when all  parties are present to decide on the fate of the contractor who has delayed the works since December 2022,” she said.
The district team also noted that similarly construction on going at Kaproron where a Health IV is being conducted, indicated that the contractor has never been on site.
