KAMPALA, Uganda-SHIFTMEDIA- For decades Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) has been crying foul over vandalism and theft of its materials
The culprits have been identified and will have to compensate URC for stolen and vandalized materials worth shs12b billion.
Tiang Tang, a Chinese firm with chains of investments ranging from industries, Real Estates, hotels, and others has been identified as the culprit.
Tiang Tang who have powerful links to top State authorities have been sued by URC after materials weighing 14tons worth shs12b was recovered from their Mbalala based factory.
The factory that makes mattresses, galvanized sheets, and steel windows are located in Mukono along the Kampala Jinja highway.

Following the search, tons of railway slippers, steel rails among others were found in a very dilapidated (un reusable) state.

They are also demanding for Shs150 million as cost of reinstatement and Shs 400 million as cost of freight, insurance, procurement, and other related costs.
Tiang Tang has 15 days to defend itself. They declined to comment when contacted saying: “Our lawyers are handling the matter.”
