World Food Day 2024: Food Scientists Make Urgent Call for Nutritional Awareness and Reform in Uganda

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| The target is to secure over 100,000 jobs in 12 months, but given the pace, the target looks achievable.
This the relief that Premier Recruitment Ltd, Uganda’s fast-growing labour hiring and exporting agency has put to hundreds of jobless youth interested in working in the Middle East.
The latest offer on the table is the job offer of 850 vacancies for Ugandans in Qatar.
According to a letter dated 3rd February 2021 to Premier Recruitment, Aletqan Manpower company based in Qatar wants 100 mechanical Technicians, 50 Plumbers, 100 Electrical Technicians, 50 carpenters, 50 painters, 200 security guards(male and female), 200 waiters (male and female) and 100 other labourers binging the total number of wanted workers to 850.
According to Sami Suleiman, Aletqan Manpower company’s General Manager, the workers will earn between QAR 100 (UShs1m) and QAR 1000 (UShs1.1m).
The Gender and Labour minister Janat B. Mukwaya said that the Government of Uganda and UAE had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to offer protection to Ugandan migrants workers in the Middle East country.
Mukwaya said after the signing of the MoU, her counterpart ( Minister) H.E Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli challenged her to release 80,000 workers from Uganda in the next 12 months.
Mukwaya described the demand of 80,000 workers from Uganda as a hard task and called upon firms taking migrant workers to up their game.
Rajiv Ruparelia, the Chief Executive Officer of Premier Recruitment said that they are ready for the mantle.
“We have the capacity to get these numbers if supported with clear and smooth operating procedures,” he said in an interview.
“We are licensed and regulated by the Ministry of Labour and work closely with Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agencies (UERA); we are very professional and transparent,” Rajiv said.
He added that apart from jobs for domestic workers (maids), Premier Recruitment which runs under Ruparelia Group of Companies has other exciting jobs including cleaners, plumbers, security guards, waiters/ waitresses, bartenders and massage specialists among others.
The firm is headquartered at Crane Chambers along Kampala road. Premier Recruitment started exporting labour before it was affected by the Covid 19 pandemic.
They have so far secured jobs for Ugandans in Qatar and Saudi Arabia since the year began.
Rajiv Ruparelia, the managing director at Premier Recruitment said once vetted a two-year renewable contract will be provided and will include working 8 hours per day for 6 days of the week with a six (6) month probation period.
This offer will also include a joining and round-trip air ticket, free food or an allowance of 300 QR, accommodation, transport, medical and insurance facilities, a resident permit, leave (21 days per year) and end of service benefits as provided for in the Qatar labor law.
