KAMULI, Uganda Feb 27 [SHIFTMEDIA] The night of February 18 2025, seemed like any other, apparently, Matthias Bwamiki, who is now “manless” after his manhood was chopped by his errant wife, didn’t expect any horror that night. Around 10 pm after showering and taking supper, Bwamiki entered bed unknowing that his wife Kevina Nabirye has kept a sharp knife under their matrimonial bed.
The outcomes a few minutes after her husband entered bed has now earned her 20 years in jail for attempted murder. Kamuli Chief Magistrate’s Court sentenced Kevina Nabirye, a mother of four, to 20 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to attempted murder for severing her husband’s genitals.
Residents of Buguwa village, in Kamuli district where the heinous act occurred, wanted to “deal” with Nabirye, save for police who rescued her that fateful day. Though she was remorseful, and accused her husband of infidelity and not being a good performer in bed, Kamuli Chief Magistrate Paul Owino described her action as heinous , leading to the severity of her husbands manhood.
“You caused permanent harm on your husband, he will never be a man again, I understand your remorsefulness, but also think of the permanent injury caused to your husband,” ruled His Worship Owino.
Despite her pleas, H.W Owino who ruled on February 26, 2025, upheld the earlier 20 years that was slapped on Nabirye.
Her sentence however, came with mixed reactions, some describing it as harsh, while others as lenient.
Medics at the Kamuli General Hospital where Bwamiki has been receiving medical attention told us that he will never be in position to father any child, and performing conjugal duties.
On his part, Bwamiki said as a Christian, he had forgiven his wife for the sake of peace and his children. “I glad justice has finally paid off, let her go and serve, perhaps after he 20 years she may be a changed person,” said Bwamiki.
