REUTERS NEWS AGENCY, June 18— Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday that Iran was defending itself against Israel’s illegal, “crazed” attacks and what he called “state terrorism,” and added Iran’s self-defense was natural, legal, and legitimate.

He also said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had surpassed Adolf Hitler in committing crimes of genocide in Gaza.

“Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu has long left Hitler behind in terms of genocide,” he said.

  According to the Jerusalem Post, Erdogan was speaking to members of his ruling AK Party in parliament. Erdogan also said Israel had attacked Turkey’s neighbor Iran without waiting for an end to nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran, adding Ankara wanted to see issues resolved through diplomacy. He said Turkey was ready to contribute to a solution.

Meanwhile, Britain said on Wednesday it was temporarily withdrawing the family members of staff who work at the country’s embassy and consulate in Israel due to the significant risks posed from the conflict between Iran and Israel.

“Family members of staff at the British embassy in Tel Aviv and the British consulate in Jerusalem have been temporarily withdrawn as a precautionary measure,” Britain’s foreign office said on its travel advice page for Israel.

“The embassy and consulate continues with essential work including services to British nationals,” it added.

On Wednesday, police announced that a woman returned to her home in a town in the North after a siren, only to notice a thief mid-escape. He had stolen bags with cash, credit cards, jewellery, and personal items. Police officers eventually apprehended the 16-year-old Jerusalem resident for it. 

IAF Drone Downed in Iranian Territory, Military confirms

An unmanned IAF drone fell in Iran after it was targeted by a surface-to-air missile during operational activity, the IDF said on Tuesday. No injuries were reported, and there is no concern of an information leak.

The drone incident, according to Jerusalem Post occurred amid a series of Israeli airstrikes more than 1,500 kilometers from Israel. These operations aim to secure air superiority by targeting Iran’s air defense systems and missile network infrastructure.

The IDF said the campaign includes carefully coordinated waves of strikes intended to disable every launcher capable of firing at Israel.
