EC Probes Intimidation Of Presidential Aspirant’s Agents

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| The Electoral Commission has received a complaint from a presidential contestant regarding harassment of his agents and vowed to investigate the matter.

Justice Simon Byamukama acknowledged that Presidential aspirant Jothan Burobuto had written to the Electoral Commission complaining about the harassment and intimidation of his agents doing mobilization work for him in some districts across the country.

Burobuto, the former Makerere University Guild Speaker is not happy with security agents whom he says are up tp frustrate his ambitions.

He will be contesting for the top seat of the land under the Progressive Youth Platform.

In the petition dated September 28 2020, Burobuto said his agents have been intimidated in Nakaseke,  Kyankwanzi, Bushenyi, Yumbe, Nakasongola and Sembabule.

“I demand that the Electoral Commission finds a lasting solution to this issues of harassment and intimidation of my agents by security agents,” he said.

The Electoral Commission has promised to probe the matter through the relevant security agencies.
