AFCON 2021 QUALIFIERS

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| A 1-0 win against the South Sudan Bright Stars at St. Mary’s Kitende Stadium on Thursday had pushed Uganda Cranes on top of Group B of the AFCON 2021 Qualifiers until Bourkinafaso hammered Malawi 3-1.
Uganda’s solitary goal was made easy by Halid Lwaliwa who came in as a substitute. Lwaliwa, the Vipers’ captain entered in to replace defender Ronald Mukiibi Ddungu who was injured during the closed door match.
Uganda and Burkina Faso both have now have 7 points though the West Africans top due to more goals scored.
Uganda earlier beat Malawi 2-0, before securing a point away In Burkina Faso if they win again on Monday, they will have garnered 10 points.
Burkina Faso registered a 3-1 home victory over Malawi in group B of the 2021 AFCON qualifiers on Thursday night at Stade du 4-Aout in Ouagadougou city.
it was a big disappointment to the Flames who left for Ouagadougou on Monday morning along with their new Youth and Sports Minister Ulemu Msungama (below) who watched as his boys were walloped.

Gerald Phiri Junior’s penalty with 9 minutes to play was consolation for the visitors. South Sudan remains at the bottom of that group having lost all the three games to Malawi, Burkina Faso and Uganda.
They face Uganda Cranes at Nyayo Stadium on Monday while Burkina Faso travels to Malawi for another encounter on the same day at the Kamuzu Banda stadium.
