KINSHASHA|SHIFTMEDIA| With just a few days to the birth of Christ, Christmas Day, jubilations in the Democratic Republic of Congo has been halted due to rising numbers of Covid 19 cases.
The DRC has just over 14,000 Covid 19 infections and 350 deaths so far.
The government decided to impose new strict curfew rules and regulations due to the rising number of infections.
Starting from tomorrow (Friday) curfew will commence strictly from 21:00 to 05:00.
On Monday, President Felix Tshisekedi said the second wave is caused mainly by the importation of cases from foreign countries and the relaxation of preventive measures. A total of 345 new infections were reported on Wednesday.
The communications minister also announced that all schools would close earlier for the Christmas holidays and that there would be a ban on public gatherings of more than 10 people.
The new measures in DRC will also see a ban on all ceremonies before burials, while sports competitions will continue without fans..
