CRIME: One Arrested Over Murder Of City Barber

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| It was his norm to work daily and close shortly towards 8pm, an hour to curfew time.

But on Sunday, Moses Ssazi, aged 25 didn’t live to report to work the following day. He was robbed of items over Ugx 200m and murdered just a few meters from Katwe Police station.

Ssazi was a barber working for a businesswoman identified as Jovia Nanziri in Makindye Division. Nanziri dealt in gaming, saloon, and Saloon items.

Police in Katwe that is investigating the murder said a yet to be identified thugs attacked Ssazi at his residence, strangled him and robbed his household items.

“After strangling him, they tied up and chopped off his head before carrying scores of household items,” said the OC CID Katwe.

A hunt is on using the CCTV in Makindye to trace for the black Toyota Harrier that was parked at his saloon shortly before he was killed.

Luke Owoyesigire, the Kampala Metropolitan police deputy spokesperson, said an identified person had been arrested following the murder.

“The body has been taken to the city mortuary for a postmortem,”he said.

“We have recorded the statement of the owner of the salon, Jovia Nanziiri, to help us in our investigations,” Mr Owoyesigire said.
