SACCO: Kitantale Gardens Club Transforms Into Multipurpose Cooperative Society

KAMPALA, Uganda[SHIFTMEDIA ] Members of the newly inaugurated Kitintale Garden Zone Cooperative Society Limited have been urged to unite and foster development as a team.

The call was made the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Cooperative Officer for Nakawa Godfrey Mugenyi while presiding over at the first Annual General meeting of the Cooperative Society held at Phidam House in Kitintale Nakawa Division in Kampala on Saturday February 18 2023.

“I am glad that you are now formally registered as a multi purpose Cooperative Society. It is not easy to get a certificate. I applaud you for this great achievement,” said Mugenyi. He hailed the members for what he described as “sharp brains” adding: “If you move like this, with such sharp brains, the sky will be the limit.”

Mugenyi called upon the new Society members to come up with activities with which to kick start the Cooperative.

“Arrange training for your leaders, move as a team to go very far, not very fast with strength and team work,” he advised.

Board Members Elected

During the day long inaugural AGM members also took part in the democratic process of electing new office bearers. The new Board consisting of 9 members will steer the Cooperatives for the next four years as stipulated in Cooperatives Act amended.

Those elected were:

  1. Owora Peter Board -Chairperson
  2. Among Judith Board- Vice Chairperson
  3. Jaramogi Patrick -Board Secretary
  4. Emolu David- Board Treasurer
  5. Wafula Stephen- Board Member
  6. Emaru Martin- Board Member
  7. Malayi Moses- Board Member
  8. Owori Francis – Board Member
  9. Okeng Jonathan- Board Member

Vetting Committee Members

The AGM also elected three Vetting Committee Members namely, Opus George, Obedo Moses and Athieno Florence.

 

Supervisory Committee

The supreme body of the Cooperative that will over see the operations of the Board also known as SUPCO saw three able members elected to steer Kitintale Garden Zone Cooperative Society Limited Further.

These include:

  1. Odongo Tonny Keffa |(Chairperson)
  2. Fred Mugisha Member
  3. Ojok Isaac Newton- Member

Kitintale Gardens Club was started way back in 2010 as a social interaction club with motives of improving member welfare through savings.
