KAMPALA-SHIFTMEDIA- As scores of Covid 19 infections continue to surge, schools are not taking any chances.
The latest to close is Green Hill Academy School in Kampala after dozens of its students tested for COVID-19.
Earlier last week Kyambogo University closed physical lessons after 50 students tested positive. Cavendish University also followed suit and shut down opting to remain with online lessons only.
Greenhill Academy in a communication dated May 31, 2021, signed by the head of the school Wilberforce Kamengo, confirmed an outbreak of the new variants of COVID-19.
“We have registered a few confirmed cases and as a result, we are sending students home for two weeks to curb the contagious nature of the variant and as well disinfect the school environment,” Kamengo said.
“Meanwhile, we will conduct online classes for senior one and senior two beginning Friday, June 4, 2021. You are encouraged to remain vigilant about the new variant by observing all the established standard operating procedures,” Kamengo further stated.
Accordingly, all students will be required to report back to school on Sunday, June 13 for the boarding sections and, and June 14 for day scholars..
