LONDON [SHIFTMEDIA]  Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has reportedly received a bid to buy the club from a consortium led by billionaires Todd Boehly and Hansjorg Wyss.

Russian-Israeli oligarch Abramovich recently announced his decision to sell the club to protect it from fallout to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, signalling the end of a glittering 19-year era at Stamford Bridge.

According to Talksport.com, the Blues understood to be on the market for £3billion, Swiss billionaire Wyss and American investor Boehly are two of the names mentioned in a consortium trying to buy the west London club.

Wyss, 86, gave an interview to Swiss outlet Blick revealing Abramovich was looking to sell Chelsea before the news was confirmed and also expressed his interest.

Now, the same newspaper reports that Wyss and Boehly’s consortium have made an official offer to buy Chelsea from Abramovich.

The amount of the offer is said to be unclear, although the pair are in ‘good spirits’ as they await a response.

In his discussion about Chelsea, Wyss claimed Abramovich was in a ‘panic’ to get rid of the Blues, although the owner insisted any sale will not be fast-tracked in his statement.

Speaking earlier in March, Wyss added: “As of today, we don’t know the exact selling price. I can well imagine starting at Chelsea with partners but I have to examine the general conditions first.

“But what I can already say, I’m definitely not doing something like this alone. If I buy Chelsea, then [it will be] with a consortium consisting of six to seven investors.”

Meanwhile, the Financial Times reports that American billionaire Josh Harris is also exploring a bid to buy the Blues.

The 57-year-old is a former top executive at Apollo Global Management.
