KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| Despite being denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket for Kampala Lord Mayor seat,  Musician Joseph Mayanja alias Jose Chameleone has no bad blood with fellow artist and NUP president Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

Speaking shortl after he was nominated for the Mayoral seat, Mayanja said that he is still going to rally support for Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu. Kyagulanyi will be standing for President in next years election.

Mayanja was defeated by Kawempe North MP Al Hajji Latif Ssebagala for the NUP Kampala Mayor ticket before he resigned, is contesting as an independent.

He will be tustling it with Kampala Woman MP Nabilah Naggayi Ssempala who has the NUP ticket, along with incumbent, Lord Mayor Salongo Erias Lukwago, who is standing on an FDC ticket.

“I am still a freedom fighter, and I am still going to support Bobi Wine,” Mayanja told the press in Kampala.

Mayanja said that it is God who gave him this idea of joining electoral politics and he can not disobey. He said that his candidature means a lot for the future of Uganda’s capital.

“My agenda is to develop Kampala. We’re tired of these men in suits who have failed to do anything for the people of Kampala,” Mayanja noted.

Meanwhile, former Democratic Party Spokesperson Kenneth Paul Kakande has disagreed with the betting process that awarded National Unity Platform (NUP) spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi the flag for Nakawa West MP, ahead of him.

NUP released a final list of flag bearers for the position of Member of Parliament, denying Kakande a ticket and instead awarding it to the party spokesperson, Joel Ssenyonyi.

However, Kakande disagrees with the process saying he is surprised with the outcome and will be contesting as an independent.
