OYAM, Uganda[SHIFTMEDIA NEWS] The fight against absenteeism and late coming in schools is being addressed in Oyam by having teachers reside inside the school premises.
The NUDIEL USAID funded project in Uganda is constructing classroom blocks, VIP Toilets and staff quarters in norther Uganda to ensure effective education among pupils in the region.
On Monday the Oyam Resident District Commissioner Rtd ASP Hope Atuhaire and her Deputy commissioned the construction of six classroom blocks at Akuca Wii Tim Primary School in Oyam district.
The Project that will cost UGX 955, 600,905.00 commenced on Monday and will be completed in the next sis months.
‘Every body was very happy including the pupils who are anxiously waiting. The parents thanked the President for this tremendous support for Ngayi Subcounty and Oyam in particular,’ remarked Atuhaire.
The district leaders urged the contractors to ensure maximum quality in all works to be done in Ngayi and at Alapa Primary School in Aber Sub County.
Leaders visit land wrangle victims
Later in the day the RDC and other Oyam district leaders paid a courtesy visit at the home of Acani P in Loro to comfort those families that lost a member due to land wrangle.
The RDC promised to work with the locals to locate culprits who are on the run.
