World Food Day 2024: Food Scientists Make Urgent Call for Nutritional Awareness and Reform in Uganda

KAMPALA, Uganda|SHIFTMEDIA| Long-serving legislator for Persons With Disability, Hon. Alex Ndezi went through unopposed for the NRM party flag bearer for Central region. Ruth Achayo emerged victorious for Northern Region after polling 1376 votes.
The NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr Tanga Odoi declared the winners of the primary elections held on Saturday. Laura Kanushu is the flag bearer for the National Woman Member of Parliament for PWDs.
She beat incumbent Hon. Sofia Nalule after garnering 1670 votes in a hotly contested election. Nalule got a paltry 739 votes.
Hud Katuramu, an incumbent from the western region won the flag with 1232 votes (53%). Katuramo contested with Edson Ngirabawunzi who got 1019 votes (43.8%) and Ambrose Atukunda who polled 74 votes (3.2%).
Meanwhile, Helen Grace Asamo the incumbent from Eastern Region won with 2160 votes (92.7%) while her opponent got 170 votes (7.3%).
Agnes Kirabo beat ten others to win the flag for the central region with 212 votes of the 478 votes cast.
In Western Region, Edson Rugumayo won with 199 votes followed by Ronald Tugume with 114 votes.
Those carrying the NRM Party flag for the elder persons include Joy Wako Peggy who won the ticket for National female representative with 796 votes (77.8%) against 227votes (22.2%) garnered by her opponent Rose Bwiire.
Jorum Tibasiimwa will represent NRM for the elderly from Western Region, while Catherine Akom will represent Northern, Benard Onen Odoi won the Eastern Region seat beating 15 other contestants.
