CAIRO, Egypt- SHIFTMEDIA- The list of the top 24 teams to play in the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) cup is out.

The draws for this year’s CAF tournament that kicks off in Cameroon was held at the Egyptian Capital Cairo at the weekend. The AFCON 2022 tournament takes place between January 9 to February 6 2022.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles are in the group of death after it was seeded to play against the hosts Cameroon, Senegal, Tunisia, Algeria, and Morocco.

The 24 top African teams will be grouped into six as per the latest FIFA World Rankings.

The winners from and runners-up, as well as the best four third-placed teams, will advance to the knockout phase.

Uganda would be in group 4 if it wasn’t ejected out after losing away 1-0 to Malawi in the final qualifier match that was played in Blantyre. Malawi and Burkina Faso qualified from Group B.

Malawi will face Sudan, Guinea, Comoros, Ethiopia, Gambia, and Equatorial Guinea, while Burkina Faso will tussle out with Guinea, Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, and Mali

Pot 2: Egypt, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Mali, Burkina Faso, Guinea

Pot 3: Cape Verde, Gabon, Mauritania, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe, Guinea-Bissau

Pot 4: Malawi, Sudan, Equatorial Guinea, Comoros, Ethiopia, Gambia
